I love that the criticism of "Born This Way" (sort of like the criticism of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) matters not at all. The song is a huge hit and for good reason: it's fucking awesome.

Lately I am obsessed with listening to artists talk about their "process." "I want it to be like 'Thriller' if 'Thriller' took place in a bathhouse and were directed by David LaChapelle. Oh, and all the zombies look like Leigh Bowery."

That was actually kind of an awesome episode of SNL. The monologue was weak sauce, so I was concerned (since Ryan Reynolds is totally funny), but that Family Feud sketch was one of the cleverest things SNL has done in recent memory. Digital Short was kind of meh, but Reynolds did a pretty great job and showed a lot of range with a slew of accents. ( Read more... )
